Quality Manager

 

   My client, located in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, is looking for a Quality Manager to join its team. The person will be responsible for establishing, maintaining, and enhancing the quality assurance system with a focus on reducing nonconformities, continuous improvement, reducing costs of quality particularly scrap, warranty, and improving customer satisfaction, and maintaining QMS for the organization. Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Quality or a related technical field. 
  • ASQ Certification preferred
  • 15 years of experience in industrial quality assurance preferred
  • Must have 10 years of progressive quality management experience.  Must have relevant experience in a high-volume, environment
  • ISO 9001 and TS/AATF16949 system implementation experience required
  • ISO 9001 Auditor certification required
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing methods required.  Certifications are preferred.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement overall quality strategy to ensure: Improvement of quality product and process, oversight of the plant’s QMS, improve customer satisfaction and development of the organizations understanding of the use of the QMS.
  • Serve as the management representative for the QMS and Lean Manufacturing strategy
  • Provide QMS and lean manufacturing expertise to the organization for the development of associates, products, services and business processes
  • Ensure the compliance of the QMS processes via internal audits to determine efficiency and effectiveness
  • Facilitate management reviews for executive management and process owners
  • Determine organization quality and lean manufacturing goals
  • Act as the leadership voice for quality and lean manufacturing on the Leadership team
  • Ensures goals cascade throughout the organization and are aligned with individual performance measures
  • Communicates effectively with all plant management staff to exceed internal and external quality requirements
  • Oversees the site quality planning and prioritization for process quality control with respect to product conformance and metrics, quality management systems, initiatives, customer response/corrective action and personnel management. PAPP and APQP are key elements of the process
  • Supports process leaders in identifying and supporting APQP activities on key projects and products
  • Initiate continuous improvement activities affecting key metrics such as scrap, rework, warranty and other metrics as required
  • Drive root cause analysis of repetitive quality issues
  • Approve policy level changes regarding quality to ensure that plant level procedures are updated and approved annually
  • Coordinates communication with customer and quality representatives
  • Implement the Engineering Teams procedures and methods to ensure quality standards are met and maintained
  • Manages by objectives, supports and strengthens/develops staff as required, identifying resources and skills development needs and suggesting most appropriate rewarding policies; foster organizational development in coordination with divisional HR
  • Complete annual goals and evaluates employees, identify department needs and promote growth of all employees
  • Performs succession planning reviews annually to identify bench strength issues and establish remediation plans with Human Resources
  • Manages and coaches team on day-to-day activities and long term development plan
  • Identifies talent to hire and ensures on-boarding training needs are met
  • Works with employees to set goals in training and development, performance and career planning
  • Identifies risks associated with processes and activities and implements actionable plans to mitigate potential risks
  • Foster a safe work environment.  Identify safety risk and participates in incident investigations with the Safety Manager.
