Purchasing Manager

 

This role is responsible for effective procurement and production planning to ensure timely fulfillment of customer orders and accurate submission of EDI transactions.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
  • Supervisory training preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and supervisory capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and intermediate computer skills.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make low- to mid-level decisions.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage procurement processes for raw materials (e.g., dyes, chemicals, foam, and backing), including issuing purchase orders and conducting inventory simulations.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with raw materials vendors to address delivery and procurement issues.
  • Oversee month-end activities for raw material management.
  • Source and evaluate new raw material vendors.
  • Monitor and manage supplier performance.
  • Supervise the raw material receiving process, including physical counts, labeling, and SAP data entry.
  • Conduct inventory cycle counts using scanning systems and ensure adherence to the FIFO process.
  • Resolve inventory discrepancies by identifying root causes and implementing countermeasures.
  • Maintain 7S standards within inventory areas.
  • Ensure the safety of warehouse operations, including team members and equipment.
  • Assess team members’ skills, allocate work, and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Develop and implement training plans for subordinate personnel.
  • Ensure efficient production planning to meet operational requirements.
  • Review daily shipping needs to minimize rush orders and expedited shipments.
  • Collaborate with Sales Planning and Knitting Departments to adjust batch assignments as needed.
  • Assist with customer buildouts to reduce obsolete inventory.
  • Contribute to the creation of monthly production plans, factoring in manpower and machine targets.
  • Oversee EDI transactions for outgoing shipments, ensuring submissions are completed before deadlines.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or manager.
  • Travel is required up to 5%.
