Controls Engineer Lead

 

   My client, located in the Indianapolis, IN area, is looking for a Controls Engineer Lead to join its team. This position will be responsible for the automation design, configuration, qualification, and startup for a new facility. This role will be expected to integrate and work directly with the contracted engineering firm and the project team, and have primary responsibility for automation system design, delivery, startup, and qualification for a new plant. This person will be working directly with the engineering firm and consulting team and overseeing the project. Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering discipline
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in manufacturing environment with controls and process automation
  • Project Management/Engineering experience
  • Demonstrated technical expertise with various automation platforms to include ABB 800xA and/or Delta V SMFAND SIS/SIF/SIL (Safety Systems) is a plus
  • Demonstrated technical leadership on large project(s)
  • Experience in chemical, pharmaceutical and/or GMP manufacturing

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • The candidate must have a strong automation engineering foundation and can apply engineering judgment and in solving problems.
  • Have demonstrated strong project management skills, and experience with successful commissioning of new systems.
  • Provide comprehensive technical expertise for the automation platform end to end. This includes clear understanding of requirements definition, modern network and cybersecurity implications in OT, commissioning, and qualification/testing.
  • Be the subject matter expert and leadership for software development on automation platform(s).
  • Be the lead automation technical resources and provide direct support for new plant startup, commissioning, and qualification.
  • Responsible for OT asset inventory and working with IT partners to classify and control of OT assets
  • Work closely with other technical functions to ensure the process automation can support the operational control strategy
  • Partner with Computer System Quality and Information Security to ensure compliance with data integrity and information security standards
  • Participate in Process Hazard Reviews (PHR) of the equipment and processes in area of responsibility
